King's Lynn man stole Ted Baker sunglasses worth £260 from Boots store
A shoplifter twice set off the alarm at Lynn’s town centre Boots store, a court has heard.
On the first occasion staff recovered a £69.99 camera from Paul Storey, which he had swiped.
However, he still had four pairs of Ted Baker sunglasses, worth £260, hidden on him.
The 43-year-old went to leave the store again and triggered the store alarm once more.
This time he did not stop and ran off down the street, prosecutor Lily Orr told town magistrates on Thursday.
A Street Ranger could not locate him so store CCTV was checked.
Storey was arrested at his home in Freiston, Fairstead, and signed a pocket notebook entry admitting to the offence.
He pleaded guilty to the June 24 theft and breaching a community order imposed in April for a similar offence.
Charlotte Winchester, mitigating, said life had been getting on top of her client at the time.
“That day, he’d had an argument with his partner, consumed some alcohol and fully accepts what has been outlined to you.
“He very much regrets his stupid actions.”
Storey was given a 12-month community order with 15 rehabilitation activities days.
He was ordered to pay £260 compensation to Boots.
