Large numbers of people gathered for the remembrance parade in Downham on Sunday.
Town Mayor Charlie Pyatt was at the head of the parade to the war memorial followed by members of Downham Town Council.
Some of those who attended the ceremony were Nick Pratt, a Deputy Lieutenant of Norfolk, Downham Town Mayor, Cllr Charlie Pyatt and Mayoress Julie Pyatt, West Norfolk Borough Mayor Cllr Lesley Bambridge, Wing Commander Portlock, the town crier Ray Wales, various members of the RAF and groups of sea cadets, scouts and girl guides.
Representatives of Rotary International and the Round Table, the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes and the Ancient Order of Foresters, the Salvation Army, the Woman’s Institute, Downham’s Heritage Society and the St John Ambulance were also in attendance.
The wreath laying service was followed by a service at St Edmunds led by Father Mather, with Nick Pratt and Wing Commander Portlock both giving a reading.
The Royal British Legion read out the names of all those that died in WW1 and WW2.
Acting town clerk Claire Dornan, who was also in attendance, said: “Yesterday’s parade was an outstanding success with more attendees than we have seen in the past five years.
“The weather was warm for the time of the year which helped make the parade such a success.
“The town council would like a record of thanks to be recorded to Norfolk Constabulary who closed off the local roads for the duration of the parade and wreath laying.”
