Mars Food, in Hansa Road, Lynn, is supporting National Apprenticeship Week, celebrating its apprentices all over the country.
The international giant currently runs apprenticeship schemes at its site in Lynn, where apprentices are part of a team that produces world famous products from favourite brands Dolmio and Uncle Ben’s.
The company has annual investment of £1 million into its apprenticeship schemes across the UK
There are 52 apprentices currently employed across its six sites Melton Mowbray, Slough, Plymouth, Kings Lynn, Milton Keynes and Birstall.
Mars is recruiting up to 28 apprentices in 2016; it employs more than 4,000 people in the UK in total.
Robbie Priera, ex-apprentice and current technical manager for Mars Food at its Lynn site, said: “I didn’t really know much about engineering as a kid.
“Yet when I saw the description of the Mars Petcare Apprenticeship Scheme in my local paper, I had to give it a shot.
“It’s really important for businesses to give kids like me the opportunity to try a different career path.
“It helps them – but importantly it helps us to widen the talent pool and find the future factory or site manager who will take our business to the next level.
“It’s great for us as a business and for the apprentice! Development doesn’t stop after the scheme – I’ve been supported every step of the way on my career and have now entered a new chapter as part of the management team at Mars Food in King’s Lynn.”
