Darts players struck the target to the tune of about £400 in a 24-hour darts marathon at Runcton Holme Village Hall in February, 1980.
In this picture they were still going strong and enjoying a spot of refreshment during the event. The idea was to raise as much cash as possible towards the amount needed to buy a piece of land put up for sale by the county council in the village’s School Road for a children’s playing field. Twelve players took part, being split into two teams of six, with four playing at any one time. At the end of the marathon, Team A beat Team B by 112 games to 91.
