“Save Water” was the vital message on this float at Snettisham Carnival in August, 1976.
It went on to win prizes for the best float in the parade – and the most unusual. Television personality Rita Webb performed the opening ceremony and judged the floats. Villagers lined the roadsides in the village as the procession of decorated floats made its way to the park, where a highlight of the afternoon was an “It’s A Knockout” competition which attracted six teams. Gun dog trials were held and there was also a popular scurry competition for local dogs.
