These children at Terrington St John School pedalled and pushed their way to making more than £100 in May 1979.

It was all to raise money for a covered way from the changing rooms to the Marshland High School swimming pool which they share with the older pupils. Sponsored by parents and friends, the task for the youngsters was to push prams, hoops and toy cars or pedal bicycles and tricycles over a set course on the school field. Several thousand pounds were needed for the covered way and the interim total stood at around £2,000.
