Downham Market man Irmantas Spudys and Erikas Anzelis from Boston, Lincolnshire, charged with 14 offences after police discover suspected chop shop in Upwell
Two men have been charged with a number of offences after police came across a suspected chop shop in a village over the weekend.
Erikas Anzelis, a 42-year-old from Laughton Road in Boston, Lincolnshire, and Irmantas Spudys, a 44-year-old of no fixed address from Downham, appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with 14 offences between them.
It comes after officers found what they believe to be a chop shop - referring to a place where stolen vehicles are dismantled so the parts can be sold separately or used in other vehicles - in Small Lode, Upwell, on Saturday evening.
Both were arrested at the scene and taken to King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Six stolen vehicles worth more than £200,000 were discovered including two Porsches, three BMWs and a Mercedes as well as a signal jammer - a device that allows criminals to disrupt the signals from stolen vehicle tracking systems so they can escape undetected.
Anzelis and Spudys were each charged with six counts of handling stolen goods and one count of using apparatus for the purpose of interfering with wireless telegraphy.
They have been remanded in custody and are due to appear at Norwich Crown Court on Monday, December 23.
