West Norfolk councillors and King's Lynn Town Deal Board

More news, no ads

West Norfolk is well used to the reality of there being a democratic deficit.

That, after all, is why the last borough elections returned an avalanche of Independent councillors. And I hope this trend continues into 2023, as time and time again it is clear that local councillors whose first loyalty is to the (Conservative) party do not, and cannot, put the interests of their constituents first. Just look at the shambles of the Parkway planning application(s).

It remains true that national politics and local politics have very different characteristics, but remember there are many who will vote nationally one way and locally on the merits of local candidates, which is the best possible outcome for us all.
