Methwold village marks 400th Auction Mart

A celebration to mark Methwold's 400-year-old Auction Mart and 125-year-old village hall took place on Bank Holiday Monday.

Residents came together to mark these milestones with celebrations taking place throughout the village including children's games, cake sales, auctions and raffles.

Town crier Chris Stone said: "The entire village came together, I have never seen so many villagers in one spot for some time.

"There was bouncy castles and a disco by Bounce2Bounce who allowed children to play all day free of charge.

"Everyone in the village made some money on the day with their various stalls. There were cake stalls, bric-a-brac, raffles and auctions.

"It couldn't have gone any better and it is exactly what we need to get villagers out enjoying themselves and talking to one and other.

"As well as everything, we were also celebrating the royal wedding."
