Downham Market Adoption Centre in Stowbridge looks for cats to be adopted
More than 100 cats are in need of a caring home after being overlooked for too long due to lengthy waiting lists.
Staff at Downham Market Adoption Centre are appealing for people to take in cats to free up pen spaces for more felines in need.
The centre, based at Ward’s Chase in Stowbridge, already has 100 cats on the waiting list.
Leah Snowden, the rehoming and welfare assistant at the centre, said: “If you are able to adopt a cat please get in touch as we’d love to show you the beautiful long stay cats we have that are desperate for a loving home.”
“Nobody wants these poor cats to stay here longer than they have to but sadly they have nowhere else to go until they are adopted,” she added.
“Although we do our very best to care for them, life in a cat pen is no substitute for a permanent home so I would urge people to consider adopting one.”
Those in need of new homes include 15-month-old black cat Johnny and Ruby, aged five, who is really playful, friendly and loves the outdoors.
Pudding, who is white and black, aged ten and loves nature, and Effi, who is 13-years-old, outgoing and enjoys human company, are also looking for families of their own.
Pina Colada, a black, long haired beauty, was a stray and is looking for a home to call her own. She is aged one.
