James Wild made Shadow Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury by Kemi Badenoch
North West Norfolk MP James Wild has been appointed as a Shadow Treasury Minister by new Tory leader Kemi Badenoch.
As Shadow Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, Mr Wild’s role in the Shadow Treasury team includes covering the UK tax system.
This will involve work on business and personal taxes, energy environment and climate taxes, and investment zones.
Since being elected as an MP, Mr Wild has worked to attract investment to the area and supported businesses to promote exports, reduce regulation, support grant applications, and promote job opportunities.
“I am very pleased to have been appointed Shadow Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury,” he said.
“I am looking forward to making the case for an approach to tax that encourages investment and enterprise and holding the government to account for its plans for higher taxes, borrowing, and lower growth.
“Talking to businesses locally since the Budget I know there is plenty to do highlighting the Government’s damaging national insurance increases, family farm tax, and higher costs for our hospitality businesses.
“I very much enjoyed my role as Shadow Education Minister as part of the team arguing for better SEND provision, opposing Labour’s education tax, and ensuring the improvements in reading, maths, and science in recent years are protected.”
Mr Wild was appointed as a minister in the Shadow Department for Education by then-Conservative leader Rishi Sunak back in July.
His new role will see him play a role in the Conservative Party’s bid to return to power whenever the next general election may be.
