MP hears how state-of-the-art centre is a boost to King’s Lynn hospital
State-of-the-art diagnostic facilities have been welcomed by an MP following a hospital tour.
North West Norfolk MP James Wild was given a tour of the Community Diagnostic Centre which opened in September at Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital following a £85.9m investment in the three acute hospitals across Norfolk and Waveney.
As one of 40 new centres across England, it is expected to serve more than 40,000 outpatients in its first year, offering cutting-edge imaging technology from MRI and CT scans, X-ray and ultrasound.
It will play a key role in diagnosing and monitoring conditions such as cancer and respiratory illnesses, improving patient outcomes and helping to reduce waiting times by providing faster access to tests.
Following the visit, Mr Wild said: “I was impressed by the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s new community diagnostic centre which offers more checks and scans with the latest equipment enabling patients to get treated sooner.
“This underlines how new facilities benefit both patients and staff which is why a new QEH remains my priority, and the government needs to go faster and stick to the 2030 deadline.”
