A cat was left disabled after being shot with an air rifle last year.

Another resident, who lives near the train station in Downham, has come forward with their own story following recent reports of a family cat named Waffle being shot and killed in the same area last month.

The resident said: "Last year in August my cat was injured by an air rifle on Bennett Street, and it left her disabled. She was pregnant at the time."

The resident also disclosed that they were "not surprised" that a cat has been killed on the road where she lives.

She said: "I'm not surprised, as a lot of cats are injured down this road, the person is obviously targetting cats.

"I ended up having to assist my pet to give birth due to her injuries.

"The vet confirmed that it was indeed an air rifle shot that caused the injury. What will be next a child?"

This is the second instance where a cat has been shot on the same street in Downham in the last year.

Police confirmed they were investigating the most recent report of beloved pet Waffle.
