Methwold man Kevin Forster’s Land Rover Discovery ‘feels jinxed and brings bad luck’ - but he won’t get rid of it

A man who purchased his car online had been struck by a series of unfortunate events - but is refusing to give it up.

Kevin Forster, 46, from Methwold, has been left feeling jinxed as the Land Rover Discovery he bought has become the victim of several unlucky incidents.

After testing out the Discovery at local garages, Mr Forster ventured further afield to find the highest-spec available that he liked – and eventually purchased one in March last year for nearly £30,000.

He never got to test-drive the vehicle before it was delivered, and it now seems to have become something of a money pit for him.

Within the first couple of weeks, he said it was scraped and crashed into in a car park.

Mr Forster said: “Everything that could go wrong has seemed to happen to that vehicle.”

In the space of just over 12 months, it has already required a replacement engine and gearbox.

Paint has flaked off all four wheels after being sent to a third-party repair shop, while the seat belt mechanisms have failed at points.

There have been intermittent starting issues since the purchase, while dashboard errors have been frequent.

Punctures, a cracked windscreen brought on by hot weather, and wiper blade wear and tear have also posed problems.

However, the bad luck has not been limited to unfortunate faults.

Mr Forster’s wife's foot slipped on the brake, causing her to crash into her own car on their driveway.

The car has been scraped by neighboring vehicles in a car park three times, while Mr Forster has himself accidentally reversed into a horsebox.

Meanwhile, he also reversed into a car when parking because his parking sensors did not activate.

After all the bad luck the car has brought, Mr Forster said his father-in-law suggested that the Land Rover should be called ‘Lucky’.

He added: “It appears to be jinxed and attracts bad luck.”

However, all the bad luck has not put him off.

He said he does not want to part with the car as simply finds it far too comfortable.
