Denver-based nature group Fen Zen CIC launches fundraiser to build new wooden classroom
A nature group has launched a crowdfunding campaign which it hopes will help it to build a wooden classroom on its eight-acre site.
Fen Zen CIC, a community social enterprise based in Denver, says the handcrafted classroom will provide a purpose-built space for wellness practitioners and community members to gather and connect with nature.
Designed with eco-friendly materials and inspired by the surrounding landscape, it would host a wide range of activities, including community mindfulness sessions, yoga classes, nature-connection workshops, and educational programmes for all ages.
The space would feature a wood burner, solar panels, compost loos, and a bird hide to make the most of the surrounding wildlife, and will have an accessible ramp so all can join in.
“This wooden classroom represents the heart of our mission at Fen Zen CIC,” Tabitha Nolan, founder and director of the group, said.
“It’s more than just a building – it’s a sanctuary for wellness, creativity, and community. With your support, we can create a space that brings people together and strengthens their bond with nature.”
The crowdfunding project aims to raise £10,000 to go towards the construction and furnishing of the classroom. Further funding is being sought from various channels.
Supporters can contribute through the campaign page on Crowdfunder, where they will find a range of rewards as a thank-you for their generosity.
These include private tours of the market garden and roundhouse, free access to existing sessions, and private sessions.
“This project is about building more than a classroom,” Ms Nolan added.
“It’s about building resilience, hope, and joy in our community.”
The crowdfunding campaign will run from now until the beginning of February.
