New baby and toddler group opens in Swaffham for children born in pandemic

A new playgroup has opened, targeted at babies and toddlers born during Covid restrictions.

'Chat and Play' in Swaffham Assembly rooms gives parents and children the opportunity to socialise.

Organiser Sue Chittock believes that parents and babies born during this time of isolation are in need of special support to help them with socialising and interacting with others.

The group has opened with the help of Swaffham Lions club, who have sponsored, as well as two Lionesses assisting with running it.

The first session was held on Tuesday, November 8, and Sue said: " I was pleased with the turn out, and expect the numbers will increase as word of the new group spreads."

Lion President David Merchant and Lions Club welfare officer Tony Lakey came along to show their support for the new venture.

East Anglia Co-op has also helped the group with a donation for the provision of two new walkers, and Tesco is sponsoring the refreshments for the sessions.

The playgroup runs every second Tuesday of the month from 9am-11am and each session costs £2 per family with free refreshments provided.
