New booking system for Norfolk tips is officially live

A new booking system for Norfolk’s tips is officially live - with slots available from next week.

Norfolk County Council has implemented the system for recycling centres across the area, insisting that the changes will help with service demand, reduce congestion and make sites safer.

However, the authority has faced backlash from residents and councillors, with some worried that people could be more tempted to fly-tip their rubbish.

In any case, anyone wishing to visit a Norfolk recycling centre from Monday (November 18) must book in advance.

The system to do so is now live on the county council’s website, with people able to book a slot up to one week in advance.

People arriving on foot are still required to book, and can also do this by phoning the council’s customer service centre.

The tips affected include those in Ashill, Docking, Heacham, Saddlebow, and Wereham.

Slots are available every 15 minutes and people can make a booking or cancel one right up until the time of the booking.

People are asked to give the registration number of the vehicle they will be using on the day. Business and trade waste customers will also be asked to provide their waste carrier’s licence number.

People can still visit waste recycling centres this week without booking.
