Initial proposals to build dozens of new homes in Heacham have been submitted to borough council planners.
Developers W H Kerkham (Rhoon) Ltd are seeking outline permission for 69 homes and associated infrastructure on a site off Cheney Hill.
Documents submitted by the applicants, which were published on the West Norfolk Council website yesterday, said the scheme would bring urgently needed open-market and affordable homes to the village.
The report added: “The benefits of the proposal, coupled with the absence of any significant impacts arising from the proposal, create a compelling set of material considerations to justify the development of this site for housing.”
But opponents have pointed out that the number of homes proposed is more than the total amount of new homes proposed for the site in the authority’s local development framework. One resident has also argued that the proposed access to the site is “dangerous”.
