Bargain hunters queued for the chance to be among the first to sample the newest addition to Lynn's High Street yesterday.

The town's new Poundstretcher store was officially opened by borough mayor Nick Daubney on Monday morning, following a race against time by contractors to get the site ready.

The premises had been vacant since Sports Direct moved to St Dominic's Square nearly two years ago.

Poundstretcher says it has invested £500,000 in the new store, which will create 25 jobs.

Business leaders hope it will also help to bring additional customers to the southern end of the town centre.
