New mobile Post Office service for rural communities in West Norfolk
A new mobile Post Office service will help serve 10 rural communities in West Norfolk.
The travelling Post Office, aboard a specifically designed vehicle, will restore services to these communities.
Mark Eldridge, postmaster for Great Massingham, has been appointed to operate the service, which will be introduced in the week commencing March 26.
At Brancaster Staithe, a temporary mobile service will be reinstated while a permanent solution is sought.
Matthew Hatfull, Post Office area network change manager, said: “Since the closure of Post Office services at the above locations, we have continued to work to identify a solution that will enable us to restore services to the local communities.
“We are introducing a Post Office mobile service, which is a tried and tested way of maintaining service to smaller communities.
"We are delighted that this mobile vehicle will be able to provide Post Office services to so many communities."
The mobile service will be at:
- Bircham Social Club from 2.15pm to 3.15pm on Mondays
- The Green in East Rudham from 8am to 10am on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 3.15pm to 6pm on Wednesdays
- Rose & Crown pub car park in Harpley from 10.45am to 11.45am on Mondays
- Ffolkes Arms Hotel in Hillington from 12.30pm to 1.30pm on Mondays and 4pm to 5pm on Tuesdays
- Hill Road in Ingoldisthorpe from 1.15pm to 2.15pm on Thursdays
- Sedgeford Village Hall from 10.45am to 11.45am on Tuesdays
- 13 Old Church Road in Snettisham from 10.45am to 12.45pm on Thursdays
- Thornham Village Hall from 2.15pm to 3.15pm on Tuesdays
- West Newton Village Hall from 4pm to 5pm on Mondays and 1.30pm to 2.30pm on Wednesdays.
The temporary mobile service will also be at Brancaster Staithe Village Hall from 12.30pm to 1.30pm on Tuesdays and 11.45am to 12.45pm on Wednesdays.
