New restaurant 'The Greenhouse' opens in Downham Market
A new restaurant has opened at a popular home and garden centre in Downham.
The Greenhouse Restaurant at Downham Home and Garden opened its doors to the public earlier this month on Valentine’s night.
The opening night was a huge success, with more than 100 people going along.
The restaurant had “incredible” feedback from everybody, especially regarding the quality of food.
General manager Chris Gooderson said the most popular dish on the night seemed to be the American Burger.
“A lot of people said it was the best they had ever had!”
The fish pie was also very popular with customers, as was a tapas-style sharing menu.
Chris added: “ I think having everything prepared fresh really does make a difference.”
The bar was also a bigger success than anticipated, with many moving into the area after dining.
“It was so great to see everybody having such a good time in there,” said Chris.
“Needless to say, we certainly needed another bar order the following day.
“The entire thing went off with a bang and we consider it to have been a huge success.
“It hasn’t really quietened down since either.”
The restaurant offers starters and small plates, hot toasted sandwiches, fish, classics, pasta, hot crafted burgers, sides, Sunday lunch, breakfast, pastries, desserts, alcohol and non alcoholic drinks.
The Greenhouse Restaurant is located inside Downham Home and Garden Centre at the back.
It’s open between 9am-4pm Monday-Saturday and 10am-3pm on Sunday, with plans for a later opening time in the future.

“We got there at 7pm and it was very busy with every table taken and people chatting and drinking at the bar. It was a lovely, positive atmosphere.
When we were seated, there were a couple of roses and chocolates on the table, which was really thoughtful.
We both decided to go for the pan-roasted chicken supreme with wild mushrooms, crushed herby new potatoes, cavolo nero with white wine and tarragon sauce.
The presentation was impressive and the food gorgeous, especially the white wine and tarragon sauce.
I would definitely recommend this place as the food is really nice and the staff are very friendly.”
