Carrstone House Care Home welcomes first Downham Market resident

The first resident has moved into a newly-built, state-of-the-art care home in town.

Carrstone House Care Home, a 72-bed facility in Downham, officially opened its doors last week - and yesterday it welcomed 84-year-old Barbara Clinton.

This is the latest addition to Avery Healthcare's portfolio, offering residential, respite, and dementia care services.

Ms Clinton was the first person to enquire about the home, and is proud to now call it home.

She expressed her excitement about the move, saying: "It’s been such a smooth process moving in, and I can’t believe how lovely and spacious my new bedroom is.

“Thank you for my welcome gift, Cyclamen is one of my favourite plants."

Located in a prime position in Downham, Carrstone House boasts a hair salon, cinema, café, companion rooms, private dining options, and gardens.

These facilities have been designed to provide comfort and convenience for all residents, enhancing their daily lives.

Shane Collier, home manager, also shared his excitement about the opening.

"It’s an honour to welcome our first residents today,” he said.

“We’ve worked hard to create a supportive environment where everyone can feel at ease and enjoy the care and services on offer.

“We’re looking forward to seeing our residents settle in, make new connections, and take full advantage of the excellent facilities we have here."

More residents are due to move in over the coming weeks.
