Recently-opened Words and Wonder bookshop in Downham Market welcomes the community for special events
A recently-opened bookshop is playing host to a number of exciting sessions as it starts a new chapter in town.
Words and Wonder Bookshop in Downham, run by sisters Sarah Rogers and Penny Price, is welcoming community groups in the coming weeks.
Encouraging a love of reading is one of the pair’s core values, and they are enjoying greeting different groups for special evenings at their store.
Recently, girls from the First and Second Downham Guides and Clackclose Rangers have enjoyed their own private evening meetings at the bookshop, where they shared their favourite stories, looked at new ones, made bookmarks and created Halloween decorations.
The shop’s first book class, a history group, is now looking forward to monthly catch-ups.
Meanwhile, last Wednesday, a fiction group had its first meeting - and Penny is looking forward to hosting more.
And tomorrow (Tuesday) at 6.30pm, Words and Wonder will host a book launch with local author Russell Wate.
He will talk about his new book, a crime novel called ‘Body Overboard’.
People will hear him talk about the book while Penny and Sarah act out a scene.
On Thursday, the bookshop will be hosting free Halloween craft activities for children.
