Tilney All Saints Church of England Primary School receives ‘good’ rating in Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools report
A West Norfolk primary school is celebrating after being rated “good” for the way it promotes its distinctive Christian values.
The Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools Report (SIAMS) found that Tilney All Saints Church of England Primary School “fosters a strong sense of family and shared values”.
SIAMS’ report talked about how leaders ensure all pupils have equal opportunities meaning that “all thrive and no-one is left behind”.
The inspection, which is carried out across all Church of England schools, came just weeks after the school was rated “good” by Ofsted.
The aim of a SIAMS inspection is to establish how well a school promotes its distinctive Christian vision and how effective this is in helping children to flourish.
Some of the school’s strengths that were highlighted, included how pupils can “talk about injustice and recognise it in many forms”.
Students were also able to “talk about world views and faiths with confidence and interest and are beginning to reflect on belief systems and their impact on society and culture”.
Executive head teacher Dawn Liddle said: “Our vision to create a safe, nurturing environment where everyone can blossom, is central to our teaching and this report highlights the hard work of staff and the commitment of pupils to this every day.”
Miss Liddle added: “As part of our distinctive Christian vision, our values also include giving all pupils the opportunity to be empowered to make good choices through the spirit of God and we are delighted that the report recognises the strength and positive impact of collective worship in our school.”
The inspection found areas for development to be increasing pupil involvement and engagement in planning and leading collective worship, strengthening their understanding of the impact of injustice and inequality, and further enhancing the balance of planning in RE.
The report praised the school and its leaders for the breadth of opportunities on offer for pupils to learn and grow, both academically and spiritually.
Year 5 pupil Marilena Smith described the school community at Tilney as being “like a family”.
She also said that “everyone’s really friendly and kind” and the school is “equal to all beliefs” with the RE lessons creating “an awareness of everyone’s right to individual beliefs”.
Miss Liddle added: “We strive to help our pupils be the best version of themselves and will continue to build upon the success of this report, coupled with our recent positive Ofsted inspection.
“I am proud of our school’s ethos and sense of community and know that we will carry on working hard together to be our best selves, always looking to improve where possible.”
