Norfolk Cheese Company opens a delightful deli in Downham Market
Last week, a new deli opened offering a range of high quality cheeses, delicatessen meats and an array of artisan culinary delights.
The Norfolk Cheese Company opened it's doors at No11 High Street in Downham, formerly the WNDA charity shop.
Owner Nina Narramore said: "I decided to turn my passion into a business."
Mrs Narramore wasn't always in the food industry and formerly worked for several media outlets including the Lynn News, before turning her hand to the glorious world of cheese.
The businessowner said: "I still get excited over new cheeses and I hope to offer local produce of a high standard to my customers. Before this we had a stall on the market, so I had already built up a client base in the area."
The shop has a range of cheeses, some continental and others that are made in Norfolk. The shelves are lined with colourful artisan pasta, a variety of truffle based oils and spreads, fresh eggs and a selection of loose teas.
There's even something for your pet pooch, adorable doggy biscuits shaped like doughnuts and sweets.
Mrs Narramore hopes to expand in the future into different products including alcohol and possibly offering sit-down service outside.
At the till is Mrs Narramore's son, Tom, who had his first day working at the family run business. The atmosphere is warm, friendly with a rustic feel to it much like a specialist shop found on the continent.
Sounds cheesy, but it's definitely a place to go if you are feeling bleu.
