Plan to tackle business crime is launched at Royal Norfolk Show

Businesses across Norfolk are being urged to have their say on a proposed new Business Crime Strategy for the county.

Lorne said: “Business crime is something I personally feel very strongly about. I grew up living over and working in a small convenience store and saw and experienced the impact of business crime first hand.

“Norfolk is a county of enterprise and opportunity, where businesses of all sizes are helping to feed the country, making scientific breakthroughs, providing wonderful and memorable holidays and serving our needs for goods and services.

“For that to continue, businesses need to prosper and to prosper, they need protecting from crime. We are not in the midst of a business crime wave, but the nature of the challenges business faces is changing. Cybercrime is just one such challenge.

“I want to start an ongoing dialogue between Norfolk Constabulary and businesses across all sectors to improve the flow of intelligence and information, so new and emerging issues and concerns can be responded to swiftly and effectively.”

Partnership working with businesses and business groups such as the Federation of Small Businesses, Norfolk Chamber of Commerce and the Lynn Business Improvement District were crucial, the PCC added.

Lorne will also be hosting a discussion at the show today to allow members of the rural community to discuss policing and crime issues with members of the rural policing team. This will be at 10am at the Emergency Services Village, just off Avenue 1.

Later, at 11.30am, Lorne will launch the draft Business Crime Strategy at the Federation of Small Businesses marquee (Stand 132).
