The doyenne of British film criticism, Barry Norman, is to open a new private cinema at the Hoste hotel in Burnham Market.

Mr Norman, CBE, presenter of the BBC’s Film review programme from 1972, opens the cinema on Tuesday, July 12.

The new fully air-conditioned cinema will accommodate 20 people in comfort and style.

The space has been designed to the highest standards with cinema-style seats, plush carpets and a state-of-the-art sound system.

There will be three film showings per day featuring 100 classic films every month and guests will be able to enjoy a personal waiter service throughout the duration of each film.

The cinema will be available for all guests staying at the hotel and in addition can be booked by non-resident guests for private parties.

Adjacent to the cinema other facilities will include an air conditioned gym and private function room.

The gym is available exclusively for hotel residents but the function room, seating 24, is available for hire.

Brendan Hopkins, owner of the Hoste, said: “This marks the next chapter of development at the Hoste and we very much look forward to welcoming Barry Norman back on this occasion to launch our private cinema.”
