Now VE Day party falls foul of Covid-19 in King's Lynn




VE Day commemorations in Lynn in May have been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

A West Norfolk Council spokesman said this afternoon: "Unfortunately the decision has been made to cancel the planned VE Day events at King’s Lynn Town Hall on Friday, May 8, marking VE75. The church service on Sunday, May 10, is also cancelled."

The event was being planned for Lynn Town Hall and included forties-style tea party for World War II veterans and members of the public from that time.

Activities for young people in uniforms. In the evening there will be a 1940s style VE Day celebratory party with swing band and traditional sausage-and-mash supper.

Five people are currently being treated in Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital for the virus.
