‘Nuisance tree’ at Docking pond could be removed after causing damage to delivery vehicles

Villagers have agreed to remove a “nuisance” tree which has reportedly been causing damage to large delivery vehicles.

An application has been submitted to West Norfolk Council seeking approval for taking down the sucker willow on the western side of the Stanhoe Road pond in Docking.

Docking Parish Council has put forward the plans, stating that it is the owner of the tree.

The application says: “The parishioners have agreed to remove the tree due to its condition and status. The tree is causing damage to delivery vehicles and has become a nuisance.”

The executive director for environment and planning at the borough council has asked for more information before the plans are passed to a tree officer.

This includes a sketch or location plan showing the position of the tree requiring work, as well as confirmation as to whether the tree is to be felled or removed as this is “not clear”.

An email from Carla Crawford, the Docking parish clerk, which is included in planning documents says: “There have (been) several deliveries to the building site at Hazeldene in the last couple of weeks.

“The branches on this tree have been scraping over these vehicles, and without intervention, the whole tree will become an absolute nuisance to delivery vehicles”.
