Courses in King's Lynn and Fakenham could help new businesses starting up in 2020

Hey, it’s January and the start of 2020! It’s the time when many will have reflected on their careers and aspirations over the festive period and are planning the year ahead.

You might even have been that person who declared half way through New Year's Eve, “I’m going to start my own business”. Or you might just be thinking – what if I do?

Well, the latest three month unemployment figures released in December show the number of people out of work at its lowest since January 1975 – that’s when Mud had “Lonely This Christmas” at number one.

It’s also the month the House of Commons officially instructed work to stop on the Channel Tunnel due to uncertainties with our membership of the EEC. Oh, doesn’t it all sound familiar. Work restarted in 1985 and the tunnel, of course, opened in 1994.

But it can be argued low unemployment signifies a strong and confident economy and therefore provides an encouraging backdrop against which to start a business.

So if you’re looking for some guidance and further help in making the decision you’ll find our First Steps to Start Up programme is designed for you.

We’ll talk through the key areas to get right when starting out, look at how to set up the business and the key basics of tax. You’ll also have the chance to talk to other like minded people and share your thoughts and ideas if you want to.

After you leave the two-day programme you’ll have some useful techniques to help you with market research and you’ll know how to put together a marketing plan.

Just as we’ve got used to using the Channel Tunnel over the last quarter of a century, why not use this traditional time of year to explore your future options and see what the next 25 years could bring you? It’s your life or “c’est ta vie” as they’d say at the other end…

Our next courses run in Lynn on January 9 and 10 and 27 and 28 and in Fakenham on January 6 and 7. Book at anytime online at www.nwes.org.uk/events or call Charlotte on 01553 970029.
