Downham Market’s Hillcrest Primary School pupils to help officially open new Lidl store after sensory equipment donation

Pupils are set to help officially open the new Lidl store in Downham next week after the supermarket giant donated funds to their school.

To mark the occasion of its opening on Thursday, December 5, a special ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held, with pupils from Hillcrest Primary School joining the celebration.

It comes after Lidl donated £999 to the school to help fund sensory equipment, including scooter boards, therapeutic body rollers and a wooden railway set which will benefit children with special educational needs.

The new store on Bexwell Road will be open from 8am–10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am–4pm on Sundays.

The store will feature the company's renowned bakery, the popular ‘Middle of Lidl’, and customer facilities, including toilets with baby-changing stations.

There will also be ample parking for both cars and bicycles. Shoppers can look forward to Lidl Plus offers and complimentary food sampling throughout the opening weekend.

This multi-million-pound investment is set to boost the local economy with the creation of up to 40 new jobs.
