Downham Market ovarian cancer survivor Diane Boothby attends meeting in Parliament with South West Norfolk MP Terry Jermy

A Downham cancer survivor who has tirelessly campaigned through fundraisers has now taken her cause to Parliament.

Diane Boothby is well known for holding numerous fundraisers for charity Target Ovarian Cancer over the years, as well as campaigning for an earlier diagnosis for the disease.

Last week, Diane was invited to Parliament by South West Norfolk MP Terry Jermy, who arranged for her to meet the private secretary for health Zubar Ahmed.

Together, they spoke about Diane’s campaign for women to be diagnosed with ovarian cancer sooner, so that they can receive life-saving treatment.

On the day, she also enjoyed a lunch and was able to sit in on a debate on rural businesses, where Mr Jermy spoke on behalf of his constituency.

Diane described the day as “very successful”.

She is soon hoping to start a ladies’ support group in Lynn for those who have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
