North Wootton Parish Council's longest-serving councillors retires
One of North Wootton Parish Council’s longest-serving councillors has retired.
Simon Kilham was presented with a gift and cards at the council’s recent meeting as a token of appreciation for his 41 years of service.
Simon, a farmer in the village, joined the parish council in 1982.
Councillor Antony Lamb paid tribute to Mr Kilham and said: “Since I joined the parish council, Simon has always been there to offer words of advice.
“It is sad to see such a stalwart of the village decide to retire.
“But I wish Simon and his wife Jane many happy years of retirement.”
Farewells were also said to borough councillor Elizabeth Nockolds who is stepping down, prior to the election on Thursday, May 4.
Serving the Woottons Ward since 2015, she too was presented with a gift and cards from the North Wootton Parish Council.
John Marshall-Grint, who is chair of North Wootton Parish Council, said: “Thank you Elizabeth on behalf of North Wootton for all you have done over the years.
He added: “Elizabeth is a councillor whose wealth of knowledge will be missed and we wish her every success.”
