Hillington is set to benefit from a boost to phone signal coverage under plans announced by a leading mobile phone operator.
It is one of 30 villages nationwide included in the Rural Open Sure Signal programme.
Thisaims to introduce 3G coverage to otherwise technologically-remote areas, which was announced by Vodafone on Friday.
The upgrade to the phone signal is expected to be implemented within the next few months, but no date has been given yet.
Vodafone’s UK chief executive Jeroen Hoencamp said: “Mobile connectivity is an essential service for communities and businesses to thrive in today’s digital world and support local economies.
“We are committed to investing in our network, using innovative technologies such as Sure Signal to provide access even in remote locations where it is otherwise almost impossible to reach.”
