Lynn’s county and family courts could be closed under new plans announced by the Justice Secretary, Michael Gove, yesterday.
A consultation has been launched on plans to close 91 courts across the country, as part of Government plans to reform courts and tribunals in England and Wales.
The Lynn county and family courts, which are based in Chequer House, on King Street, are among those earmarked for closure.
The county court currently hosts regular sessions in which inquests are heard.
The consultation covers the proposed closure of 57 magistrates, 19 county, two crown and nine combined courts, plus four tribunal hearing centres.
The consultation has been launched via the Ministry of Justice website, www,justice.gov.uk and will close on October 8.
