Plaque dedicated to Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson, famous for Battle of Trafalgar victory, stolen from his birthplace in Burnham Thorpe




A plaque dedicated to naval hero Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson has been stolen from the village where he was born.

Police are appealing for information after the memorial sign, which commemorates Nelson's birth, was stolen from outside a home on Burnham Thorpe's Creake Road between Monday, December 5 and Tuesday, December 20.

The plaque had been in place for 63 years and was presented to the village by HMS Tyne, the flagship of the Home Fleet.

Nelson is best known for his victory at the Battle of Trafalgar, where he was killed in 1805.
