Norfolk Police identify woman whose body was found on Hunstanton beach as enquiries continue

Police believe they have identified a woman who was found dead on Hunstanton beach last week.

Officers launched an investigation after a member of the public reported finding the body at around 11.45pm on Friday, opposite the Sea Life Centre.

A cordon was put in place while initial enquiries were carried out, and the body was later recovered. The cordon was lifted at around 10am on Saturday morning.

Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances of the woman’s death, which is being treated as unexplained.

Officers have said there is no evidence to suggest the death is related to Storm Babet, which brought heavy rain and flooding to the region last week.

Although police believe they know who the woman is, the body has not yet been formally identified.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place in the next few days.
