Police launch appeal after assault following Norfolk Junior Cup Final between Watlington and Dersingham




Police have now launched an appeal following a serious assault at a football cup final.

The incident occurred at around 9.45pm on Norwich Road, Dereham on May 10, following the Norfolk Junior Cup final clash between Watlington Sports and Social Club and Dersingham Rovers.

The victim was approached from behind by a man who punched him on the back of the head.

The victim, a man aged in his 20s, was taken to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with serious injuries. He has since been discharged.

Last week, a statement from the Watlington club confirmed he was a member of its travelling support.

Now, police officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or the events prior to it happening.
