Terrington St Clement cleaner Nell Horton in court for drug-driving

A “polite young lady” was caught drug-driving after being persuaded to try cannabis at a party.

On June 18, Nell Horton, 20, was pulled over by the police after officers received information that she could be driving while under the influence.

She was asked if she had recently taken any drugs, and she admitted she had used the Class B drug.

Horton, of Benns Lane in Terrington St Clement, provided a positive roadside drug swipe and was arrested - with later tests revealing she had 6.9mcg of a cannabis breakdown per litre of blood.

The legal limit to drive is 2mcg.

Horton appeared at Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, where she pleaded guilty to drug-driving.

Mitigating, duty solicitor George Sorrell said: “The defendant, 20 years of age, a lady of previous good character, admits that she fell into undesirable company in the sense that people at a party persuaded her that it was a good idea to try cannabis.

“She has got herself a job as a cleaner, so she has got a good job.

“She presents herself as a very courteous and polite young lady.”

Magistrates disqualified Horton from driving for 12 months.

She will also pay a £138 fine, £55 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.
