Wereham Craft Group organised its "best-ever" pre-Christmas Craft Fair at Wereham Village Hall on Saturday as it bounced back from the pandemic with a bang.

Last year's event had to be cancelled due to Covid but this time around some 30 stallholders, swelled by raffle, filled rolls, mince pie and cake stalls, took part.

Funds were boosted by table money from last year's cancelled event which stallholders instructed the group to hold on to, and proceeds went to Wereham Village Hall.

Craft fair organiser Rosemary Pease, who began this event, said: "That's the best craft fair day we've ever had. We've been doing them for five to six years now.

"We raised a lot of money for the Village Hall: £600, plus last year's table money which could push it towards four figures.

"The cafe really was quite busy. There were no demonstrations of crafts. I had trouble finding someone."

Saturday's fair was the first proper event to be held since coming out of lockdown this summer. The group will start to plan and set dates for next year in January.

For more information or to join the Wereham Craft Group, which meets on the second Tuesday of every month in the village hall from 10.30am until 12.30pm, contact Rosemary Pease on 01366 501330.
