Downham Market’s Nelson Academy holds successful Macmillan coffee morning

Staff and pupils at Nelson Academy put their baking skills to the test for a good cause as they held a Macmillan coffee morning.

On Friday, September 29, the Downham school sold cakes, muffins, brownies and savoury treats to the Nelson community and raised a total of £472.87 for the cancer charity.

Rebecca Lee, student support administrator at Nelson Academy, said: “All cakes and treats were donated by parents and staff and the coffee morning was held in our new outdoor classroom.

“Lucky for us, the sun was shining brightly, which made for a wonderful morning.”

The event was organised by Sam Jefferies and Kelly Clarke, who were helped by Ligita Wilson, Karla Short and Julie Crane.

Rebecca added: “There was a huge raffle with some amazing prizes. Lots of local businesses and parents donated great prizes including vouchers, gift sets, tasty treats and more.
