Prince Harry dresses up as Santa for Christmas message to children supported by King's Lynn-based Scotty's Little Soldiers

Children supported by Lynn charity Scotty's Little Soldiers will have a Christmas to remember after receiving a special festive message from the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry.

The charity, which supports bereaved British Forces children, put on a Christmas party for 190 of its members aboard a boat on the River Thames earlier this month where they shared the message from Prince Harry.

The royal and his wife the Duchess of Sussex have previously supported the charity by choosing them as one of the causes to benefit from donations given in lieu of a present at their wedding.

In the video on Scotty's Little Soldiers website, Prince Harry says: "Ho Ho Ho! Hi guys, everyone at Scotty's Little Soldiers. I hope you are having an amazing time, I hear there's 190 of you there this year so please cause as much chaos as humanly possible.

"I also want to encourage you guys to look around and realise that you are part of a family, part of an amazing community and that there is support there for you every single day, should you need it, and having met some of you a few years ago, or most of you, I know how incredibly strong you are.

"So yes, losing a parent is incredibly hard but I know that every single one of you, by helping each other out, that you will have an amazing future ahead of you, and you are going to have a fantastic Christmas as well.

"So the last thing from me is, your parents, they will never be forgotten, and you will never be forgotten, and I really hope and I know you will leave today with a huge smile on your face, and for the younger ones of you, probably covered in food as well.

"So have a fantastic Christmas and Happy New Year!"

Scotty's Little Soldiers was set up in memory of founder Nikki Scott's husband and father to two of her children, Corporal Lee Scott, after he was killed in Afghanistan in 2009.

A spokeswoman for the charity said: "Scotty's does lots of things to support its members throughout the year, including health and wellbeing support, development opportunities and giving them the chance to smile.

The annual Christmas party is a very special opportunity for the children to not only have a magical time but also meet other children in the same situation, and this year was particularly special as Prince Harry recorded a video message for the children."

Nikki said: "We're so grateful to The Duke of Sussex for kindly recording a video message for the bereaved Forces children that attended the Scotty's Little Soldiers Christmas party earlier this month.

"It can be a difficult time of year for these kids, so receiving a heartfelt message from Prince Harry really meant the world to them.

"The message was a surprise and the look on their faces was priceless.

"In the Christmas spirit, we thought we would share it here for all to enjoy."

Children ranging from four to 18, along with their surviving parent, travelled to London from all over the UK, courtesy of The Rail Delivery Group which represents train companies and Network Rail.

The children also received a message from TV presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

The event was supported by ABF The Soldiers' Charity, RAF Benevolent Fund, RNRMC and The MacRobert Trust.
