Proposal due on Downham Market car parking problems

Have your say

A proposal for the future of car parking in Downham will be made later this month.

Calls have been made by traders to address the problems with the town’s car parks being blocked by workers rather than shoppers.

Downham Town Council commissioned a report last year to look at the problems.

Alpha Parking found that the parks are either full or at 95 per cent capacity. It has warned that the town needs an additional 40 parking spaces over the next five years and that some form of charging can only achieve the investment.

The town council’s car park management strategy sub-committee is due to be presenting a proposal to the property committee meeting on Tuesday, October 20.
