Staff and pupils from Walpole Cross Keys Primary School make up for celebrating World Book Day a day late with array of costumes
One West Norfolk school was a little late marking World Book Day but made up for it with an array of costumes.
Last Friday, pupils and staff at Walpole Cross Keys Primary School dressed as their favourite characters as well as youngsters taking in their favourite book to share with friends.
A pre-arranged parents’ evening event, along with school PE, meant that the school couldn’t celebrate World Book Day on the designated day - the day before.
Assistant head teacher Billy Overton said: “It was great - all of the children and staff dressed up, with a wide range of costumes from books like Billionaire Boy, 101 Dalmatians, Captain Underpants and Room on the Broom to name just a few.
"In our English lessons, children got to be creative by describing their own brilliant villainous characters, reflecting on what they like to read and the youngest children made book marks and word pointers to help them develop their reading skills.”
A World Book Day lunch was enjoyed on Thursday with other schools in West Norfolk Academies Trust, which the Walpole school is part of, when the menu included Ratburger and Gangsta Granny Salad - followed by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ice cream.
