Pupils from Hilgay Riverside Academy clean and decorate All Saints Church in time for Christmas

A group of children at a village primary school completed a good deed in time for Christmas as they got busy cleaning and decorating their local church.

Some of the Year 5 and 6 Pupils at Hilgay Riverside Academy wanted to give All Saints Church in Hilgay a proper spruce up and got to work giving the church a good scrub in time for several Christmas events being held in the next couple of weeks.

During their own reward time, the children didn’t decide to play but instead got to work on making paper chains to make the church look as festive as possible.

Teaching assistant Emma Ford said: “We are really pleased with how enthusiastic the children have been to partake in a little community project.

“They pulled together to make sure that every surface was spotless.”
