North Wootton Primary School pupils get a history lesson with a twist in 1981

A party of pupils from North Wootton Primary School had a history lesson with a difference in May 1981, when they were filmed by BBC Television.

Some 36 children spent the day at Oxburgh Hall, dressing up and acting out a play to commemorate Henry VII’s visit there with his Queen in 1482.

But it wasn’t until they arrived they realised the event was being filmed – and then they could not wait for the screening on Merry Go Round, a BBC education programme that would go out in 1982, marking the 500th anniversary of the royal visit.
