Queues all across West Norfolk today seeking petrol

Drivers seemed not to be heeding the pleas to stay away from filling stations today as long queues formed across West Norfolk.

Yesterday had seen motorists rush to the pumps after some companies said they were experiencing shortages of fuel due to a lack of HGV delivery drivers.

That continued today and long queues of about 50 cars or more forming for example into the forecourt at Tesco's garage on Wootton Road from early this morning.

At 3pm this afternoon there were long queues out of the BP garage at Heacham.

The Co-op, that yesterday was one of the suppliers that declared it was not experiencing an issue with supply, has had to shut its station at Necton on the A47 today.

The Government has urged people not to panic buy and stressed there is no shortage of petrol. It is reported that it may be loosening immigration rules to allow EU nationals with HGV licences back in the country to drive tankers.
