Great Northern rail serving King's Lynn commended in awards

Great Northern, the train company serving Lynn and Downham, was highly commended in the industry’s answer to the Oscars, the National Rail Awards.

Judges heard that a new leadership team had overcome historical problems, improving punctuality for the period being assessed, with new trains and best-ever passenger satisfaction in the Spring last year.

The response to the pandemic had been first class, delivering a safe and reliable service that responded to the needs of passengers, keeping key workers on the move throughout.

Great Northern managing director Tom Moran said: “I’m delighted for the team around me that has transformed Great Northern for our passengers. We know we have much still to do and, as we begin to emerge from the pandemic, we’re determined to build on this success for our customers.”

The annual National Rail Awards were held last Thursday.
