Stoke Ferry residents can vote in referendum on Neighbourhood Plan proposals
Residents can have their say on a proposed Neighbourhood Plan for their area in a referendum this week.
Those living in Stoke Ferry can head to the community centre at Wretton Road on Thursday (August 24) to voice their opinions after nearly five years of putting the proposals together.
The village’s parish council first announced its decision to prepare the plan in autumn 2018, and it has since gone through a “rigorous process” in order to be ready for consultation.
Following around four years of development, the plan was submitted to West Norfolk Council in August last year – and has subsequently undergone an independent examination. In May this year, the independent examiner passed it to proceed to referendum, subject to a number of changes.
The referendum is the final stage of the process, which will allow the Neighbourhood Plan to be adopted if it is supported by a majority of 50% or more of voters.
Voting in the referendum will take place in the community centre between 7am and 10pm.
Counting will take place on Friday and the result of the referendum is expected to be announced later on the same afternoon.
All adults aged 18 or over on August 24 who are residents in Stoke Ferry and who are registered to vote will be eligible to vote.
