Grimston, Pott Row, Roydon and Congham residents can vote on Neighbourhood Plan in August

Residents of Grimston, Pott Row, Roydon and Congham will soon be able to have their say about the proposed Neighbourhood Plan for their area.

Voters will be asked to say yes or no to the following question: ‘Do you want West Norfolk Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Grimston, Pott Row, Roydon and Congham to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?’

Development of the plan, which has been led by Grimston Parish Council and supported by Roydon and Congham’s parish councils, has gone through a rigorous process.

After being submitted to the borough council, it underwent an independent examination. Earlier this year, the independent examiner passed it to proceed to referendum.

The referendum is the final stage of the plan-making process, which will allow the Neighbourhood Plan to be adopted if supported by a majority (more than 50%) of voters.

Voting will take place on Thursday, August 22, between 7am and 10pm.

For the parishes of Grimston (including Pott Row) and Roydon, the polling station is at Grimston Village Hall on Cliffe-En-Howe Road.

For the parish of Congham, the polling station is at The Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House, Wheatfields.

Counting will take place on August 23, and the result of the referendum is expected to be announced soon after noon.

All adults aged 18 or over on August 22, and who are registered to vote, will be eligible to vote. Voters should remember that they need to present photo ID.

Further details of the referendum timetable, including deadlines, are available on the borough council website.
